Submit an entry to the Yetholm Border Shepherds’ Show

We have a wide range of classes suitable for all ages and abilities and encourage everyone to participate and be part of the Yetholm Border Shepherds’ Show.

Whether you are a seasoned pro or trying something new, our classes offer something for everyone from showing sheep to photography, floral arrangements to walking sticks. There's even a challenging hill race, which is sure to get your adrenaline pumping.

Enter in advance

To enter a class at the Yetholm Border Shepherds’ Show, it is essential to register in advance and submit your entry by email before Friday 19th September 2025.

Sheep

The Sheep Section at the Yetholm Show welcomes a variety of breeds from our local sheep farming community; including Cheviot, Blackface, and North Country Cheviot.

Collie Working Trial

The Collie Working Trial at the Yetholm Show is an opportunity for novice and experienced handlers to demonstrate their sheepdogs’ skill, agility and talent.

Vintage Machinery

The Vintage Machinery Display at the Yetholm Show visually celebrates our agricultural heritage with a unique display of vintage machinery, vehicles, cars, motorcycles, and tractors.

Vegetables

The Vegetable Section at the Yetholm Show showcases locally grown produce from people’s gardens, veggie patches and allotments.

Flowers

The Flower Section at the Yetholm Show is a colourful display of flowers, herbs and pot plants.

Floral Art

The Floral Art Section at the Yetholm Show encourages people to create floral arrangements, using fresh materials.

Baking

The Baking Section at the Yetholm Show demonstrates the skills involved making homemade cakes and fancy baking, scones, savoury bites and delicious pastries.

Eggs and Preserves

The Eggs and Preserves Section at the Yetholm Show is an opportunity to exhibit hen eggs and home-made produce including jams, chutneys and liquers.

Knitting and Crochet

The Knitting and Crochet Section at the Yetholm Show welcomes entries from crafters who make items of clothing and crocheted items.

Needlework and Handicraft

The Needlework and Handicraft Section at the Yetholm Show is an array of handcrafted items, to be shared and admired.

Photography

The Photography Section at the Yetholm Show is a wonderful display of landscapes, animals and plants captured using a mobile phone or camera.

Walking Sticks

The Walking Sticks is one of the biggest displays of walking sticks, neck crooks & leg cleeks with elaborate woodheads and hornheads. Each one a testament to the artistry and craftsmanship of their creators.

Novelty

The Novelty Section at the Yetholm Show is a fun and light-hearted way to get involved. We encourage people to show something they’ve found or own such as a quirky biscuit tin, prettiest hair band or humorous corkscrew.

Enter on the day

We have a number of competitions which you can enter on the day. If you’d like to take part, you can choose to participate in the dog show with your furry companion, lace up your trainers for the hill race, demonstrate your skills in the young handlers sheep section, or enter the children's competitions.

6.5km Hill Race - 12.45pm

The Yetholm Hill Race is a true test of endurance and strength, with the Scottish hills providing a seriously muddy challenge. Runners come to compete in this ultimate test of stamina and determination so whether you're a seasoned runner looking for your next challenge or a novice looking to push yourself to new heights, the Yetholm Hill Race is an experience like no other. Dog show - 2pm onwards

We love welcoming your furry friends to the Yetholm Border Shepherds’ Show. Throughout the day, you can join us in the Main Ring with your terriers, working gun dogs, collie dogs and other breeds. There’s no need to enter in advance and no entry fee - simply turn up on the day and check the show timetable for more information. Children’s Classes

Our children's classes at the Yetholm Show are open to pre-school and primary children, providing a fun and engaging opportunity for young participants. There is no entry fee, and children can join us on the day to showcase their talents in a variety of show categories. From handwriting to photography, iced biscuits, and much more, there is something for every young artist and creative mind to explore and enjoy. Young Handlers

At the Yetholm Show, any sheep can be shown by a young handler under the age of sixteen. This provides a valuable opportunity for young people to showcase their skills in handling and presenting animals. It is a wonderful way for young individuals to gain experience, confidence, and take part in the Yetholm Border Shepherds’ Show.
